If you set the SATA mode in the UEFI to AHCI after you’ve installed Windows, you’ll run into problems. Try these steps below before activating AHCI.
- boot up Windows
- press Win+R keys
- type regedit and hit OK
- Look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci
- Adjust the value of the key Start to 0 (normally it’s 3)
- reboot the PC and activate AHCI in BIOS
